Happy Birthday to Me!
I'll be completely honest - I feel like I'm the same age, and today was not that extraordinary. My morning started out pretty badly, my day was usual, I came home and had a hugeee meltdown (I'm being honest...) because something at that time ruined my day (hence why I have no outfit pictures today), I calmed myself down, I put icing on my cake, I prepared my dinner. My day was better ever since I began to prepare the food. And for dinner I had vegan crab cakes, and I am being completely honest, they were amaazing. Took more preparation than I'm used to, and my mom made most of it, but so worth it. And now I'm incredibly confused because people's actions don't match up with what's supposed to be real...
Well, here's a little something I find very aesthetically pleasing:
from Elle, April 2009.
The colors in the first are so awesome. Love it!

What I'm Wearing
Jacket - Urban, tshirt - American Apparel, jeans - Delias, shoes - Journey's
Agh, my computer is being so slow and I didn't get on until 9pm.
So, I debuted my jacket today! Sadly it was far too warm in school to wear it all day. I'm not sure if that's part of the leather jacket-ettiquite, but I love it so I wouldn't mind wearing it just about every day. I'm so strange, I would get a (faux, of course) leather jacket in spring. But hey, maybe I'll have some fun nighttime adventures? I hope so...
All of these pictures are kind of silly, actually. My mom was looking out the window when I took the first one so I guess I made a face at her. But this is a typical Catherine face as I'd call it, so it's cool.
Oh, and here's an adorable picture of my cat, Ashley:
Normally she runs away if I ever try to take pictures of her, but I guess she didn't care enough to get up. Ha. She's probably the only being I've met that I could never even consider feeling negatively towards.
Last little bit, I promise... my birthday is in three days! I still haven't told anyone what I wanted (with the exception of my jacket), I'm so bad at that. I'm three chapters in to my driver's book, so needless to say I won't take my permit test on my birthday, but I'm okay with that. I'm just looking for a job.

Looking back...
The windows are opened and there's a nice breeze coming through, and normally when the weather's like this I think of how excited I am for permanent (well, for a few months) nice weather. But today feels like the past. I'm looking at sandals online and I can't help but remember the day I bought my school appropriate sandals last year. And every memory of what was happening at this time comes straight into my head, and I'm almost half convinced it's 2008. It feels like nothing has changed, but I realize I'd be crazy not to say everything is completely different. I don't know if I like it or not. Everything's moving too quickly.
On another note, this is my jacket that I can't wait to debut, probably tomorrow:
And I can't wait to wear it with super girly dresses. I know everyone with a leather jacket has done that, but I have this ridiculously girly vintage dress (it's pink, if that says anything) that would look fabulous in my opinion. And it's just a bit different than my normal cardigan route, and I'm allll about changing things up even though I rarely do it.

Converse
Gotta love Converse ads.
I went to a mall for the first time in nearly two months today with intentions to pick stuff out for my birthday. I tried on piles and piles of stuff but no luck. Nothing was quite right for whatever reason. And what's the most disappointing is a lot of the stuff I tried on was stuff I've seen online and loved... and it just didn't work right. Eventually I got a little discouraged and I ended up forgetting what I was looking for in the first place. However, I picked out a faux leather jacket from Urban. It was really expensive for me, $128, but I'm hoping I'll get tons of use out of it even though it's spring now! I felt terrible, although I didn't get as grumpy as I normally do after getting frustrated, I wasn't all that thrilled. I love my family.

What I Am Wearing
Cardigan - Forever 21, dress - Billabong, shoes - Charlotte Russe, necklace - my mom's.
Finally an outfit post! And I included a little close up of my necklace and the detailing on my dress. I felt a bit dressed up for a half day where I'd only see about thirty people, but the weather is lovely today and I secretly wear a a tank top and a pair of soffees under dresses so I won't worry about wardrobe malfunctions. So I guess I was wearing typical comfort clothes but I added on an extra two layers! Haha.
It's so beautiful outside and all I really want to do is just sit and think. But I felt a little creeped out while I was standing in my backyard because my neighbors were outside (I don't blame them) and my dog was staring at me from inside. I'll probably take my dog for a walk around my whole neighborhood fifty times because I'm going insane from being home with everyone else, but for the time being they're out.
Oh, and I love this:
from Style.com
It's from William Rast's s/s '09 collection. Frankly, I generally didn't like it, but I happen to adore this. I want jackets of all sorts, black and white (faux) leather, bleached denim, blazers of various colors... For once I don't want summer to come! I'm content with the fact that it'll be spring in a mere two days. I'm actually thrilled.

And then there's this...
all from Elle, Feb 09.
Loveee it, but I'll mention yet again how I'm behind on everything.
And now for one of my typical rants (not the right word, but I'll deal) - I didn't take an outfit picture today because I don't like the shirt I'm wearing. I can't figure out why I'd wear something I don't actually love, feel comfortable in nor look forward to wearing. Why would I listen to music I don't actually like? I don't think I'm impressing anyone by wearing this, but I'm not impressing myself either. And that's what really matters, or SHOULD matter at least. But my closet is filled with "filler," as in clothes I'll wear because I have but don't actually genuinely like. Of course, I could save up money and buy clothes that I really do love and want to wear, but whenever I shop I end up finding reasons not to buy certain things that are even slightly outrageous. I play it safe. I know in this terrible economy I really can't be frivolous (sp?), but I wish I wasn't so cautious. So, what I wish was my motto but I don't follow at all: no excuses.
Oh, and I want to watch Across the Universe again. I can't help but sing along to all of the songs off the soundtrack.
Pretty.
all from Elle, Feb 09.
Seems like all of my favorite editorials or ads have similar qualities: soft colors and weather that appears to be nice, not too hot nor too cold.
I have no idea why the February issue of Elle came today when it was sold back in January, but I can't complain, I love magazines.
Well, what have I been up to?! Saturday I went to that concert, and it was so worth the $24 I spent in all. I had a fun time although perhaps I would have done things a little bit differently (I won't elaborate). I slept late for once in my life Saturday into Sunday and went to Pafa to browse. I enjoyed it, but I'm back to feeling like crap about my artwork. Today felt like a bit too much even though it was actually laid back. We have standardized testing three days this week, which means half days, so I'm half excited. It's a waste of time though!
My birthday is even sooner now (obviously), but I'm even more clueless now about what I want. Ideas always escape my head when I need them, that's always how it works!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Lack.
I have a really good explanation for my lack of updates. Actually, it sucks, but here it is: every day I've been either really busy or breaking down. It sounds pathetic of me to admit that, but I've felt like crap and I really didn't want to do anything whatsoever. It's probably not helping me to be so negative all around, but I have a feeling I'll be fine tomorrow because I'm going to another concert.
Oh, and I'm absolutely obsessed with the song Where'd You Go by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones right now. Gotta love music from before I was born!
I'll try to have a more complete post before I leave tomorrow, but for now, I'm wishing I could wear something like this during spring:

Take another ride, try to turn it around...
I ended up having a splendid weekend. It was a bit spontaneous but at the same time planned enough so I didn't become overwhelmed and back out of any opportunities I had. I won't go into Saturday, but on Sunday, shortly after I woke up I was informed my brother's friend was planning to go to a concert and the people backed out but left the tickets, so I tagged along with my brother and his friends. It's so funny how I hang out with my siblings' friends (more commonly my sister's). This was the second time I saw the Dropkick Murphys, and although I miss the memories of the last time, less people crowd surfed which meant my head didn't get kicked and I was more stable. They were so good.
I'm a zombie now because I fell asleep at 2am and woke up four hours later to get ready for school. Oh, and being at a show makes me wish I had a pair of Doc Martens. Mmmm.
While browsing photos with Doc Martens, I came across these of Erin Wasson and decided I needed to:
I can't say I'm a fan of her huge fur coats that she wears, but that's just me. And her eyebrows are really perfect. I notice stuff like that.

In love?
As you would probably know from reading my blog, I am not a fan of winter, and even fall is kind of iffy. So while everyone else is obsessing over various fall collections, I have found a spring collection to obsess over.
Balmain S/S 09:
Just look at those jackets and those jeans! I think everyone knows how much I love jeans... these are incredible. Again, this doesn't prove my point that I love color, but this is just too awesome not to like.

More Target adventures...
Cardigan - Forever 21, dress - Converse for Target, boots - Modcloth.com
When I woke up, I immediately turned my heater off and ran downstairs to see how nice out it was. It was very nice! So once I got put together, I decided to wear this dress I bought last April at Target. I've only worn it once or twice because I had to hem it and I was very lazy with that. But I think I'll try to wear it much more this spring, along with other clothes I didn't get much use out of last year! And some things that are just sitting around.
I ended up going to Target to try to look at the McQ collection in person. Sadly, the one I went to didn't have it, whereas the one closest to my house does (I checked online). But I got two tank tops (I plan to put studs on one of them, I can't wait!) and the new Teen Vogue. This day has been so nice, weather-wise and just overall. And I think my original plans may have fallen through, which honestly doesn't surprise me, but I believe I have a much funner alternative. Yesss.
It's 6:01pm and overnight tonight the clocks will be set forward... so tomorrow at this time it will be perfectly light out and it won't get dark until a little after 7:05pm.
I hope your weekend is going as well as mine is, and enjoy the rest of it!

What I'm Wearing
Cardigan - Forever 21, top - Urban, jeans - Delia's, flats - Charlotte Russe.
Hello! I guess I decided like showing off my skeleton fingers... ha. Well I suppose I'll elaborate on my outfit a little bit. This is probably one of the three things I own from Urban, I bought it with a gift card after a long debate (a few months). Their stuff is too expensive for me, I wish it wasn't because some of the clothes there are so lovely. But I'd rather not dress head to toe in it. And these flats were $10 from that trendy mall store. I couldn't help myself. They're finally broken in! The first time I wore them I ended up with horrible blisters, ow.
Just some life stuff: I wish that colleges in places with cold weather or with generally conservative people wouldn't contact me via email or mail. Is it weird that I may base my decision on weather? In my opinion, absolutely not! But other people may find it strange. My day wasn't all that bad. I can't complain, and it's Friday so I'm freee until Monday. Disabling my alarm on Friday mornings is such an amazing thing.
Oh, and I've been listening to Date Rape by Sublime on repeat for the past fifteen minutes. Their songs are so addicting!
I may post again later, but I may paint instead. Hmmm.

I Want!
Clockwise from top left - Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, ASOS, Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, Forever 21, Gojane.
I'm not even putting the prices because chances are I'll never get them. Well, just a bit of what I currently want. It appears to have no theme, and it doesn't. But that's just how I am I suppose.
I mention the weather way too often, but I am addicted to checking Accuweather.com, and today is supposed to be the coldest out of the next fifteen days. The lowest it's supposed to go is 45 degrees, which I think is mild. It's supposed to be nice this weekend, I'm pretty excited. And call me lame, but I believe daylight savings time begins next week which means it'll get dark later, around 7pm or so. Spring, spring, spring!
Oh, and just saying this again, if anyone wants to link with me, feel free to ask!
What I'm Wearing!
Cardigan - Forever 21, shirt - Macy's, jeans - Delia's, boots - Modcloth.
Hello! I must admit, I wasn't in a good mood this morning but I'm totally fine now. I think recieving a few compliments boosted my self esteem, I can't help it. My day wasn't that exciting, but the McQ collection launched at Target today. Thoughts? I mean, I knew what all was coming but I'm slightly disappointed. And I'm now on Lookbook.nu as well as Chictopia. Check me out here.
Oh, and I think this may be the one piece of printed clothing I own. It's still mostly black, so not really helping out with my color rut, but I'll get there... And I so wish I had high waisted jeans or shorts to wear with this, I'd wear it so often. But for now, I'll look like a pregnant woman in it.

What Am I Wearing?
Cropped blazer - H&M, tshirt - Pacsun, jeans - Pacsun, boots - Cutesygirl.
By asking what am I wearing, I obviously do not mean I have no idea what I'm wearing. But I just don't know where my love of colors has gone. True, most of the colorful items I used to wear are bad, cheaply made typical tshirts and what not, but I haven't bought anything colorful in ages. It makes me sad. The only color I usually buy is blue, but I wear it so often that it has almost become categorized as one of my "non-colors." I want reds, greens, browns, purples... anything! But I haven't been shopping in ages and I'm saving up for a camera so it's out of the question.
I plan on buying fabric and making some of my own clothes. I have a few patterns, including one for a fairly basic tank top. I just need to either find a fabric store that sells light weight jersey or buy it online, which I need money for. Agggh.
And I have a non-clothing related dilema: for the past two summers (and last spring), I've taken art classes at this college in the city. It's a fun experience because I love doing artistic things and I very much enjoy being in the city, but I'm not sure if I'm willing to sacrifice my summer despite the fact it is the only reason I bothered leaving my house during those summers. I'm really hoping I'll have a job, so I suppose that would give me something to do (little fact about me: when I'm bored, I go crazy), but I still don't know which class I'd take. As I mentioned, I'm trying to save up for a camera and there's a digital photo class being offered as a weekly class (instead of Mondays-Thursdays from 1-4pm for five weeks, it would be 9am-4pm every day over one week), but that's conditional because first I'd have to actually get a camera (Nikon D40 is what I'm aiming for). I still have time to worry about this and get it figured out, so I have no idea why I'm worrying, but it's something I'd have to save up for.
But today was a good day, I haven't let anything get me down and my thoughts are so far from negative. I hope you (whoever you are) had a great day too, you deserve it! Sorry, I'm just still inspired from a speaker who came to my school today...

Snow!
We were informed last night that we would have off today, before it really started to snow. That was lucky and surprising because normally my school wouldn't do such a thing. So, of course, I stayed up late again (3am) and woke up before I got my eight hours of sleep I need. I've been doing mostly nothing today. I made some pancakes that filled me up and now the idea of eating anything is ludicrous! Love but hate when that happens. And I'm so bored that I've been entering giveaways all day, sparked by when I redeemed points on Chictopia for eyeliner. Scoreee, one of the things I've been saving up for was eyeliner! So now I'm trying to find more ways to get free stuff... I'm just really bored and I think a magazine would be the perfect way to cure my boredom but I've already looked at the most recent ones several times and I'm pretty much snowed in.
I'm more than envious of anyone whose weather is above fifty degrees right now.
And I really want to become a member of Lookbook.nu because I've been lurking it for months and months but I've never gotten an email back. Maybe someone could help me out?...
Oh, and if anyone is interested in linking, I'd be more than glad to!
And I feel obligated to post some sort of asthetically pleasing picture, so here:
From Stylesightings.
Last bit for this post: I think I may make a new header sometime today by hand. I lack skills in computer graphics, but I definitely enjoy doodling and making my own fonts by hand :)

I Miss This.
It is 5:04am, and I am still not asleep. This is probably the latest I've stayed up since summer, and right now I'm browsing through the tons of pictures from summer. It's so weird to think that my hair was long at one point, and there's just little changes such as my make up that I never even realized I changed. But the biggest difference is my hair... more than six and a half inches is definitely noticeable! I want the leaves to come back and I want to feel the warm breeze and I think I could even go for a sun burn. It's March, which means three months ago was the beginning of December and in three months it will be the beginning of June. I want to grasp every second and actually live my life, but at the same time I just want to fast forward until some unknown but pleasant time in the future. I think I may want to dye my hair dark again but I don't think I do because my hair is finally back to its true natural color (after getting two substantial haircuts, I'd be shocked if it wasn't). I think I shall write more later when I am not delirious.
