Breathing

Silhouette Girl personal style fashion college blog Philadelphia Top - C&C California, skirt - H&M, purse - LuLus.com, shoes - Madewell via Ebay I wore this on Monday, if you want proof for how far behind I am on posting. It was hot - 90F. In April. And I'm entirely okay with that. And of course, such heat requires more simplicity in dressing, so I wore just a tshirt and cotton skirt. And today there's a free concert - indoors, unfortunately, due to forecasted rain - featuring a relatively well-known band! With free food. It's so nice to be able to breathe for the weekend...

No Surprises

I'm somehow just managing to get around to posting this; I wore this on Sunday for just lounging around in the grass, going to work, and a late night in the library. The weather was sunny and beautiful - not too hot, not at all cold. It has been so nice here lately, with even more days like this in the near future.

I think I want to find more sleeveless collared shirts. I'm in the process of mentally clearing my wardrobe - I haven't been home for very long in the past few weeks, so I haven't had the opportunity to go through everything physically. I know there's several items just taking up space in my closet, and only then will I let myself purchase some summer items.

I hope all is well!

Easter Sunday

Cardigan - sister's, necklace - thrifted, dress - H&M, cuff - antique, purse - LuLu's, shoes - We Who See

My weekends seem to go by so slowly when I visit home, which is absolutely not a bad thing since it's getting to the point where I appreciate being home instead of in my cramped dorm room more and more with each visit. And given that it was Easter weekend, the entire campus was practically deserted, so being home and napping with my cat curled up next to me was definitely preferable to doing so alone in my dorm.

I wore this to an Easter dinner at my aunt's house, which was lovely, as usual. This is my first time wearing these shoes - they were a gift from a friend - and they're not as comfortable as I had expected. It's nothing a little wear and breaking in won't fix, though. I would also like to mention the overwhelming urge I had to (indefinitely) borrow this cardigan from my sister, which is probably due to its length. Note to self: I want shorter sweaters. It was so nice outside that I probably could have forwent wearing one, but a short-sleeved dress and sandals would feel too summery for early April. Or mid-early April - somehow it's already the ninth of the month.

Well, here's to another long week! Classes end in a little more than three weeks, which is something I'm quite looking forward to so I can have ample time to breathe and relax. At the same time, though, I know my life at home during the summer will probably be lazy and even less eventful than it is here. And in my usual manner, I don't even know what my plans are for the fall - I could be transferring, or I may stay. In the latter (and likelier) scenario, I don't know where or with whom I'll be living. I think I secretly enjoy stressing myself out with decisions...

Ramblings on blogging

Jacket - Urban Outfitters, dress - H&M, bag - Lulu's, shoes - Marais USA

I wore this on Tuesday to classes and my sister's apartment where I wrote a paper. I haven't been doing much aside from schoolwork and sleeping excessively - I've somehow ended up with yet another illness of sorts, so my mind has been functioning at only a portion of its regular ability. Anyway, this bag was a birthday gift and I'm thoroughly enjoying its minty studded goodness.

I haven't been blogging very much lately in all aspects of the word: photos, writing and "community involvement". It's been over three years since my first foray into the world of blogging, and naturally, I've since changed drastically. I desperately want to go through the list of blogs I follow and unsubscribe from those I no longer find interesting or relevant. And in all honesty, there's some on my feed that annoy me. Maybe it's just a reflection of my own laziness in the few moments I do have time to spare, but I haven't found much inspiration in other blogs lately.

I don't know, there's even times where I'm actually a bit disgusted in the consumptive habits of fellow bloggers, and I just feel like all "popular" blogs are very materialistic. I know that not all are, but I find it increasingly difficult to encounter exceptions to the rule. And at its core, I guess fashion blogging is materialistic, but I've always maintained that personal style blogging is something different. I'm becoming more intrigued by the artistic side of fashion - something I've wanted my own style to reflect for quite some time - and many of the blogs I follow don't express anything of artistic merit. It's a bit monotonous. I don't think that everyone needs to be groundbreaking or whatever - and of course, there's different realms of style blogs - but some of it is just getting old.
