Feel it.
I had an awful day. And I wish so badly that I was down the shore, at the beach, in the ocean... it's a shame I won't be able to go down at all this summer, but hey, no different than last year.
I apologize, I'm being pessimistic. Hope you're all doing wonderfully.

But if you look twice, you can see it's all lies.
Tank top - H&M, DIY cutoffs - Old Navy, old belt - Hot Topic, sandals - Dolce Vita, jewelry - various, sunglasses - Forever 21.
Nothing felt more appropriate than a flowy tank top today. But as I'm sitting here right now, even this makes me feel like I'm overdoing it. It feels like it'll storm within a half hour, and if it does, I'm undoubtedly running outside because I have nothing better to do, my hair's already gross, and I've been waiting so long for it to rain and be disgustingly hot out. Or grossly hot indoors...
Well, enough about the weather! I have work the next three days, but I'm going to try to look nice. I cleaned my closet out the other night! That was a huge, huge accomplishment for me. I didn't realize how messy it was until everything that I took out was allll over my bedroom. But I'm really proud and now I want to go to Ikea to get drawers for this hanging organizer thing I have.
It hasn't felt so much like summer until now. And I love it.
Hope you're all doing well! xox Catherine

Back in the Day.
Finally got around to scanning those photos of my grandma that I mentioned. I feel terrible because I'm probably going to mistake someone else as her... But they were probably all people that were important in her life.
I'm pretty sure this is her, down the shore, probably in Atlantic City.
Nearly positive she's the one in the middle.
I don't believe she's in this, but it's a bit inspirational that they're sitting on the sidewalk wearing clothes that would be deemed "fancy" today. Everyday is worth getting dressed up!
I want to say this is her sister, but again, I'm not sure.
I don't believe either of these women is her.
I'm pretty sure this is her.
June 6, 1944.
With friends, or sisters? I'm absolutely positive she's the one second to the left.
She's on the far left. Look at all of their hair! If I could do hair, I'd definitely try out some vintage styles.
By the water. Second from right.
Only her arm is in this.
Again, I feel awful if I have misidentified her. But these photos are so inspirational to me. I've already mentioned that she was basically responsible for my interest in clothing, style and fashion, and I thank her for that. RIP, Grandma.

Summer.
Cardigan - Lux, t shirt - American Apparel (before the ridiculous prices), skirt - Target, shoes - Dolce Vita, jewelry - miscellaneous.
Today was my first day of work, and I'm pretty tired from standing all day. And I didn't fall asleep at a very reasonable time either. Yeah, the combination of the two. I came home and read Time magazine and the new Elle that came... I have no idea when, but the fact that it's been here before today and I didn't notice it? Arggh.
But today is the first day of summer, and I suppose it's the solstice as well? I really wish people around here celebrated it, because it's worth celebrating, unlike all of those dumb holidays that benefit greeting card companies. Cough, cough, Valentine's Day. So pointless.
I guess I should cook my dinner now. And I have work tomorrow. At 9:30am. Can't say I'm too excited to be up that early... but hey, I'm glad I'll be getting out of my house. My dad goes back to work tomorrow too. It'll just be nice to have less people in the house, although my brother barely lives here unless he's with at least two other friends, my sister seems to have found someone to occupy her time, which leaves me stuck here alone. Yes, I have no friends.
Oh, there was a rainbow last night. I took this prior to having to chase my dog in the rain because my sister accidentally let her out. Yeah.
Hope you're all well, and happy summer!! xox Catherine

You still look at the world around you from a thousand miles away.
This is going to be a messy, messy post...
Cardigan - Lux via Plato's Closet, shirt - Macy's, shorts - Target, sandals - Sweet Life by Dolce Vita, necklace - mom's, cuff - thrifted.
Wore this to go to my friend's house. We basically sat around and talked, which is always nice. Taken inside due to inclement weather. Bought two packages of raspberries later in the evening, which I'm only mentioning because raspberries are my favorite (besides "perfect" strawberries).
Cardigan - Lux, top - gift (came from Victoria's Secret), shorts - American Eagle cut offs, sandals - Dolce Vita, bracelets (from left) - thrifted, flea market round 2, flea market round 1.
Oh look, I'm a silhouette girl! Sorry, I just like to pretend I'm funny. Wore this to go to a friend's party. Let's just say trampoline + flowy tops aren't a great combo. But I thought ahead and brought a tank top I could put under just in case. The party itself was alright, but for a few reasons it's making me reflect on myself and how I act towards other people. Won't go into that.
And some jewelry you haven't seen before on here!
Silver bracelet from Mexico, in a half off case at an antiques place. Supposedly bracelets like these were popular among tourists in the 1940s. I've never been there before, and let's just say I'm scared to get my first paycheck. Because surely I would love to blow it all on jewelry that will actually last.
Two rings, also from the antiques place. Considerably less expensive than the bracelet, but I love them and right now as I am typing I am admiring them. Someone please snap me out of this materialism...
The cuff on the left was my grandma's, and I fell in love with it years ago and I guess it's now a part of my collection. Though I will admit I'm a bit scared to lose or damage it. The one on the right is from the punk rock flea market that takes place twice a year at some venue in Philly.
And my growing jewelry collection. Not the best view of it, but it's all there.
Today I went to Target, along with a few other places. I bought a skirt that's basically a rip off of American Apparel. That's the way to go! Ha. I also saw the inside of a redone hippie van, which makes me want one. How awesome would it be to be known as the girl with the hippie van?
Oh, that punk rock flea market I mentioned, it's semi-annual and it's coming up! July 11 and 12... and I already know I'm working on those days. Damn. Maybe I'll somehow get there at least one of the days? And I don't know if I mentioned it, but I begin work tomorrow! Kind of nervous, kind of excited, and really glad there's no uniform.
On another note, many of you asked me to scan those photos I came across of my grandma. I will, I promise! And I just mentioned her above, so I'm pretty much obligated to mention that she was probably the biggest influence on me to become interested in clothing and style. Well, she and my aunt... but my aunt got it from her as well. I don't mean to get all sappy, but it's almost been four years since she passed away. RIP, Grandma.
By the way, since everyone's all complaining about shitty weather everywhere: it rained on Wednesday, Thursday, was fine on Friday (yesterday), and rained all of today up until about a half hour ago. Hope it's nicer where you are! xox Catherine

Reflection
Today is a lazy day, but I just browsed through a huge box of old photos that was my grandmother's. I came across a few from June 6, 1944. They were of my grandmom and a few of her friends. I don't know the story and probably never will. But they were all in a field laughing, and were dressed up by today's standards, though a few were wearing pants and shorts.
It's just inspiring because it seems so often that I want to get all dressed up and wear heels (not that I have any...) for everyday wear, but then I think it wouldn't be appropriate for activities of the day. Basically, what I'm getting at is I want to feel like I can live in all of my clothes and not worry about being overdressed or that they'll get ruined.
And just because this is supposed to take place in the 40's and this is a cute shot:
Truthfully, I've loved the clothes in this even before I cared about which styles were associated to which decades and I thought her hair was absolutely fabulous as well.

06/16/09
I'm secretly hoping I'll grow bored enough within the next few days that I get over sulking around and I can finish/begin some DIY projects... including a navy version of the skirt I posted yesterday. And the rest of the ideas I have in my mind involve rayon. Oh, and a few involve ripping off American Apparel. All good, right?

...and the living's easy.
Tshirt - Forever 21, shorts - DIY from random box, sandals - Target, hat - Heritage, jewelry - mom's, flea market and thrift store.
I'm freeeee.
These are the bleached shorts I believe I mentioned before. Wish they looked a bit more tie dyed, but I'll live.
My day has consisted of taking my math final (HARD! I don't understand calculus!), going to a thrift store with my mom, sleeping, and eating raspberry Silk yogurt.
My thrift store finds:
The bracelet in the third and four pictures will probably become a new favorite. It has a weird pin closure, it's heavy and it has a sticker on the inside that says India and possibly the word Trading, but I can't tell. I love imagining stories behind pieces such as this.
And a bracelet my mom really liked, so I bought it for her:
It says Hollycraft COPR 1953, and I browsed online to see if I could find anything about it, just out of curiosity. I came across similar bracelets, all well over $100. Not bad for $6, eh?
This post already has a ton of photos, but my creative side came out over the weekend and I painted a little using watercolors. It's a section of my face. And it's not supposed to look realistic... that's when I'd use oil paints. But I wish I put a little more detail into the eye.
I also began (and mostly finished) a simple white woven skirt:
And I'll also be making a similar one in navy, though it may be a bit more puffy if I don't have to double the fabric up.
Whew, long post! But I hope you're all having a wonderful day, xox Catherine
PS Weardrobe - yes or no? Twitter - yes or no? Anddd, bloglovin ;)

Waiting.
From weheartit.
Kind of LOVE the print of that dress, though I wish I was wearing it and not Ashlee Simpson...
I'm waiting, waiting, waiting. I was hoping I'd be able to FINALLY get over to Goodwill, but it closes at 6pm, in 45 minutes, and no one else is near ready. So to just Whole Foods? I seriously need some sunscreen. And maybe by the pet store to play with some puppies, and although it's impossible to frown while petting a puppy, it does upset me that their mothers are probably treated unfairly.
I haven't written anything lately though I've had an abundance of free time... these past three days have absolutely sucked and all I want to do is nothing because I have no options. At least I'll be done school by 9:30am on Monday, so pointless though :/

Tag, you're it...
I've been tagged by Noshabelle at Walk on the Wild Side!
List seven things that you love and then tag seven more bloggers.
Here it goes!
1. My family and friends
2. Music
3. Art and creativity
4. Nice weather
5. Fashion, style, clothing, websites and blogs pertaining to fashion
6. Fascination, amusement, and interest
7. Animals
I know this seems like I'm taking the easy way out, but I tag everyone who hasn't been tagged and wants to do this!
And on a negative note, turns out I'll have to go on Monday. Just Monday, whhhy?! I was told I could take my math final Friday, tomorrow, but turns out I cannot. Needless to say, I am angry. So angry that it's 1:23pm and I'm home from school already...

Dress - Volcom from Pacsun, belt - thrifted, necklace - Guam from Urban, bracelet - mom's, sandals - Target.
Cost me $37 to form this outfit. But... this is a problem: I have to read an entire chapter in chem, actually comprehend it (which will be very difficult due to my seemingly permanent exhaustion, I can barely even type!) and complete a take home test by tomorrow. Ohhh boy, even less sleep?! But tomorrow will be a bit of a joke considering I have no finals, but Friday I believe I'll be taking my last final if everything is clear with Spanish.
I apologize again for obsessing about school, but I must say, I truly hate that place and I cannot wait to be free. Some close-ups? (Sorry if you hate feet, I know a lot of people do!)
Hope you're all having a nice day! I'll reply to comments when I have free time... hopefully not tomorrow since I SHOULD study, but come on, when do I ever do that?
And I may wear some DIY bleached shorts on Friday. I forgot about them, but they actually turned out pretty cool.

What will it take for us to learn?
Dress - Billabong, belt - thrifted, shoes - Sweet Life by Dolce Vita from Urban, bracelet - my mom.
Possibly my last Monday? Sorry, I'm beyond obsessed with school being over. I'll focus on my clothing for today! I bought this dress for $6 last year during some huge sale. Cut off the puffy part of the sleeves... I like it better now. For some reason I'm not that big a fan of puff sleeves though I do own a few garments with them. Hmm. The belt was a dollar from that random thrift store. I've been looking for one for ever, so even if it feels like plastic, I'm content. These shoes got me some of the strangest compliments. From the most random people, ranging from a "ghetto" kid to the people in my classes I never talk to. One kid called them epic... not so sure if that's a compliment, but hey, whatever! This bracelet is my mom's. She told me she bought it on the boardwalk in the summer of '79.
And check it out - NO BLACK!
And about other sites I'm on - I'm considering just letting my Lookbook account sit there and occasionally hype stuff. But Chictopia is way better! (By the way, if anyone wants to join, you can use this reference code: CATHERINEE555. You don't need a code, but maybe it does something cool? Haha.) And I'm considering joining Weardrobe, but it confuses me a little. Anyone else on any of these?
Hope you're having a lovely day! xox Catherine
