Tales of a Wanderer
Dress - Volcom, belt - thrifted, bracelet - Amrita Signh via Ideeli, bag - old from Pacsun, shoes - Keds via Chictopia
This isn't exactly a confession, but there's probably nothing that makes me feel more free than an "adventure." I suppose everyone has a different definition of adventure... but mine includes something as simple as sitting beneath a tall tree in an otherwise open field. I'm hardly in touch with nature - I'm not so far away from trees and such that I take deliberate trips to "the middle of nowhere," but then again, the suburbs are hardly known for vast woods. I've been in the so-called woods around here, and they're small and often trash filled... sometimes even including a trampoline that some friends of mine would dub Brigadoon. (In case you were wondering, yes, I did just mention the destination of some past adventures.)
Listen: I'm a nerd. I look forward to things way too easily and I obsess over mere ideas. With that being said, I intended to go on an adventure today - through a few trees to reveal an overgrown field with sporadic trees to provide shade for visitors. Never mind that it's probably trespassing... I'm a teenager. I'm obligated to make memories.
After numerous sets of plans fell through, I settled for taking my dog for a walk. But upon my arrival at my neighborhood park, it hardly felt like I was settling. Naturally, it was empty, considering the dangers that lurk every suburban corner these days. (I don't know what's with it - there's a ton of children in my neighborhood that only seem to leave their front doors for extravagant birthday parties complete with moon bounces, but apparently, playing outside involves too much of a risk.) It was almost sad - the same playground at which I had spent nearly every summer night of my early childhood had been spray painted and overgrown with weeds.
I suppose the vandalism is just a result of the angst that we suburban teenagers posses, and I suppose the weeds are just as natural as the grass I walked through. Perhaps it was just my past oasis, and any flaws were overlooked.
I'll leave my story at that. I won't over-analyze a simple "walk in the park." I didn't come to any shattering conclusions while pondering my thoughts in the park, so I won't come to any conclusions here, either. Though I'm almost inspired to revive the playground, for now, it will just be a destination of my aimless wandering, when I desire to aimlessly reflect.

PS Please overlook any spelling or grammatical errors. It's past 1AM. I am tired, but I often think best when I am in this certain ratio of tiredness/energy. However, my words are often unclear, etc. So pardon me.

Cardigan - Lux, necklace - made by me, tshirt - H&M, belt - thrifted, jeans - Levi's via Chictopia, shoes - Aldo
Had off from school today so the first half/portion of my day was spent in a tank top and shorts while napping. Wore this for a trip into the city to see a friend's piece at an art opening. Ended up walking nearly fifteen blocks in these shoes... only to find the restaurant we planned to eat at was closed. So we walked back up and ate at Govinda's. Surprisingly, my feet are not screaming in pain. I love these shoes. I love these shoes. I love these shoes.
Decided to wear the jeans I redeemed Chic points for on Chictopia - they're so cool. Attached a chain to my necklace and decided to keep the rest simple so attention would be drawn to it. So it goes.
Hope you all have a nice weekend!

What I've Been Doing
Cardigan - thrifted, dress - Billabong, necklace - DIY, bracelet - antique, shoes - Aldo
Oh, look, I'm wearing my favorite dress and my favorite-as-of-late shoes. So it goes. I don't have school tomorrow and I'm so glad about that and there's less than fourteen days I have to wake up. Let's see, I haven't posted much about my life lately, so I'll just mention that I tried out to be a presenter at next year's talent show... it's sort of a big deal at my school. To be honest, the presenters last year weren't that funny, but I hope that I do well at call-backs and that I can provide some ideas.
Other than that, I've pretty much been just napping. Oh, and working on this:
It's a first-time beading project, so of course it's not "perfect." But I just have to find a chain and then it's good to go! I must say, I like how it's geometric but just earthy enough. Which brings me to a question: if I made more pieces like this, would you be interested in buying?
Happy Thursday to all,

Cardigan - my mom, necklace - DIY, dress - LA Made, bracelet - grandma, belt - thrifted, shoes - Sweet Life by Dolce Vita
Finally got around to fixing/super gluing these shoes back together. So, I'm going to take a second to complain about the heat here - it's hot. And if you're wondering why I'm wearing a cardigan, that would be because my school enforces a no shoulders rule. So naturally, I must respond with angst. Most of the time, I don't think shoulders are distracting - but with flowery things? Perhaps.
I love this dress, though I've only worn it once. I like to think this outfit would work well for a dinner somewhere nice in the city. Because restaurants around here are either franchises or crappy diners with absolutely no vegan options. So it goes.
Today is a mock Thursday for me, 'cause I have off on Friday. I have minimal homework and then I'll be free to work on the necklace I started! Which, by the way, I'll get a picture of soon - but I might make some with the intent of selling them. 'Cause you know, I'm broke, but I will have access to metal and ceramic studios this summer... Perhaps some commission pieces in the future?
Hope you're well, xox Catherine

Tshirt - Forever 21, necklace - DIY, bracelet - flea market, skirt - H&M, sandals - Target
Keeping this very brief since I spent a little too much time working a necklace project I decided to try. It's coming along... yeah, I'll just say that.
This past weekend was good, but it left me exhausted so I allowed myself to take a day off. So today is pretty much like a Monday for me - but since we have off on Friday, it's also like a Wednesday I guess. Cool.
Didn't feel like wearing anything too intricate today. Just wanted to wear this skirt!

A Day Late
Top - Anthropologie, necklace - thrifted (Monet), belt - flea market, bracelet - antique Tiffany and Co., skirt - Moschino, shoes - Aldo
I intended on posting these yesterday, while I was still wearing these items... but I decided to take a nap that ended up being a 14-hour night's sleep. And to think getting 5-6 hours of sleep each night during the week would have no repercussions! I'm currently trying to upload Facebook photos and it's not working very well! Ah, frustrating.
Anyway, I finally wore my brilliant Moschino skirt... that cost me $6! It's actually a size too large, but I wore my favorite belt over it to keep it up. Normally I don't get many compliments during the day, but many people commented on my skirt/outfit. And I had the pride of knowing that I got a $700+ skirt for pretty much nothing.
This top is from when I went to New York, but I haven't posted it on here. The style is vaguely 1940's (please excuse my lack of historical fashion knowledge) so I decided to pair it with this prim skirt. I think the belt and the fork bracelet added some "weird" elements to what would have otherwise been a very conservative (for me) look. And what a surprise, I'm wearing my Aldo platforms, again... I'll try to give my other shoes equal love in the near future!
Hope you're all well, xox Catherine

You've got a hold on me
Cardigan - Urban Outfitters, top - American Eagle, necklace - antique, bracelets - grandma's/flea market/Forever 21, jeans - H&M, sandals - Aldo
First, I am tired. I have been depriving myself of sleep this week, for no particular reason, of course. Second, I have a Stat report to write and my school's art show is later. As you may know, I am quite active in the visual arts program in my school - I'm making it sound so much cooler than it is. But once a year we showcase our work! So it's somewhat of an event. I'll be sure to take photos - my sister has a wall since she's a senior, and it looks quite nice. She's very talented!
I've been wanting to wear my Moschino skirt for the past two weeks, but it's been cold or I couldn't wear it in the way I wanted to. The weather's finally nice again! So glad about that. I didn't even realize that I would be walking around to set up for the show, otherwise I probably wouldn't have worn these shoes. But it slipped my mind - luckily, they weren't painful! I wanted to wear my new Levi's high-waist jeans from Chictopia, but I need to wash them first. I can't wear jeans before washing them... not that I've bought more than one pair of jeans in the past year. For real, I used to always buy denim, but I stick to my favorite pairs now. It's easier and cheaper. Ha.
Hope you're doing well,
xox Catherine

Outside, outside the world
Cardigan - BDG, dress worn as top - Forever 21, necklace - antique, bracelet - antique Tiffany's, skirt - Target, shoes - Aldo
Wasn't planning on posting today, but I wasn't planning on wearing anything other than a tshirt and shorts or something along those lines. After some plans fell through, I took a nap then went to a Thai restaurant with my parents. The fork I got is awesome. I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but I have a fork collection from restaurants I've been to pretty much where ever. New York, Florida, the crappy diner up the street, etc. Anyway, the food was delicious and I'm glad I was able to have that outing, especially since my mom and I used to go out to lunch all the time. She had a surgery a couple weeks ago which she's still recovering from, but it's nice to spend time with her.
Supposedly the town we went to used to be rather poor, but it seems to have since become like most surrounding towns. There's not much charm left, but there were still a few cute parts.
Hope your weekend's going well, xox Catherine

Before and after...
Cardigan - my mom, dress - H&M, necklace - my mom, bracelet - my grandma, shoes - Aldo
Let's see if you notice the difference!
...it feels so much more polished, and by summer it'll be just messy enough. I love getting my haircut, so it was pretty much the highlight of my day. Since the last time I've posted, AP tests have terminated and I haven't been doing much else. I did make some (vegan, of course) chocolate raspberry cupcakes... but that's not too exciting. I'm glad that it's getting warmer again, can't stand the cold weather that we'd been having!

All I wanted was the simple things, a simple kind of life...
Scarf - H&M, shirt - Olive and Olivia via Ideeli, jeans - Delia's, bracelet - grandma's, shoes - Modcloth
I've received multiple comments today suggesting I look like I should be going on a safari of some sort... or that I look sophisticated. I like to think this outfit would be ideal for a fancy picnic. You know, the shirt's kind of wrinkled so it doesn't exactly exude classy, but for a picnic? It'd be quite suitable. I'm debuting these shoes for the season despite the colder temperatures today. I don't know what's with this weather - it was super windy all weekend and now it's chilly! Oh well... it's supposed to warm up again by Wednesday, which is the day of my last AP exam. Hurrah. I'm just glad that while tomorrow will entail yet another 3+ hour test, I have a sort of break before having to take another.
This weather is a little bit of a bummer - I had a few outfit ideas, but I guess I won't have the opportunity to execute them until later in the week. Oh well, there's still four days ahead of me.
And since I haven't posted since Friday, I have a few tidbits of news. First, I received a full tuition scholarship to the summer art program I applied for! I'm so excited that I'll get to play with metal and clay for a month. Second, I was interviewed by Dianne over at Glitteratzi. Check it out!

Hey Suburbia
Cardigan - Silence and Noise, dress - Modcloth, necklace - DIY, bracelet - grandma, socks - Target, shoes - Aldo
I'm so overdue for a haircut. So, so, so glad it's finally Friday - next week is my last week of "real" work. I have to more AP tests, and then a few projects. Nothing unmanageable! I'm quite tired and sluggish, but I have some fun weekend activities planned. Woohoo. Might take a short nap though.
I love May weather - it's perfect. And it smells incredible outside. May is my absolute favorite month.
So, I got some weird stares and comments about wearing sandals with socks. First of all, heels of any sort usually attract attention - but with socks?! Yeah, there's people who roam the hallways of my school with athletic socks and Nike flip flops. I don't dress to try to please anyone except myself. I don't take fashion too seriously - after all, I'm young! I'll have fun with it while I can, and cringe later if I so choose.
My one act went well last night, but I left promptly after because I had some other things to do. Wish I could have stayed to see some of the other acts...
I'll leave it at that. Have a fabulous weekend, all of you. xox Catherine

As the footsteps fade away
Cardigan - my mom, dress - Billabong, bracelets - grandma/antique store/gift, shoes - Aldo
Kept it rather simple today while debuting my new platforms. I love them, but I must admit I'm a little clumsy in them because they're so chunky. But other than that, they're quite comfortable.
So glad it's Thursday because this week has been kind of rough. There's seniors in most of my classes and they finish before the underclassmen, so all of my teachers are trying to assign projects and wrap up before the AP tests/before they leave. Realized today that I have probably less than 29 days left - with exemptions from finals or simply a lack of finals.
I get to relax a little then I have to go back up to my school for the one act play I'm in. It's pretty funny.
Hope you're all well! xox Catherine
