Philly Frolicking
Top - Asos, necklace - thrifted, skirt - Urban Outfitters, bag - Deux Lux, sandals - Aldo
I wore this on Monday. Sunny, 83 degree weather served as an enabler to my ever-growing senioritis, as well as my compulsive need to frolic. For now, such rare temperatures bring excessive joy and a failure to let anything get to me. You know, like blisters on my feet because I haven't worn these sandals sans-socks this season or minor personal issues. But exploring the NoLibs area of Philly and eating a yummy veggie burger at Honey's Sit 'n' Eat makes such problems trivial, regardless of weather.
I've had this outfit in my head for a while, but I haven't worn it because the colors are those of a school from which I was rejected. So I felt a little bitter about the situation, but I've gotten over it and paired two colors that look good on me.
My friend Christian was kind enough to take these photos for me. He's into photography and doesn't judge me for posing all awkwardly and posting photos of myself online. It's cool. I felt like I was doing the typical boyfriend-takes-my-outfit-photos thing (most of which turn out splendidly) minus the fact that I'm single, which isn't a problem whatsoever.
I've been trying my hand at the whole vintage-photo-effect edit on my software (Corel Paint Shop Pro X2, in case you were wondering), but I feel like I'm trying too hard if I do that. And I find usually it takes away the shadows I rely on to make certain pieces stand out, since I'm sort of into baggy/drape-y/textured/whatever clothing.
I want to do more food posts/posts about Philadelphia and the surrounding area. Other than that, what would you like to see on Silhouette Girl?
I hope all is well with you!
xox Catherine

I love the evolution of your blog. I have no suggestions other than keep thinking, dressing up and seeing what changes occur between the two.
ReplyDeletePs. You look stunning in this first photo!
"doesn't judge me for posing all awkwardly and posting photos of myself online"
ReplyDelete^i LOVE this! sooo true. everytime I explain my blog to people i feel like it just sounds like i am completely obsessed with myself. and then they look at my blog and see that i am just so extremely awkward in my photos.
and i love those platforms!
i would definitely love to see more on PHilly since its close to me and my last trip over there was awesome . i do plan on going back . lol about the bf as photog comment
ReplyDeleteI personally love your thoughts for tuesday section, so more posts like those would be great! and you look lovely, I feel like we are facially alike, haha, we could totally be relatives :D
ReplyDeleteYou look super adorable! It's okay, I judge myself for the awkward poses, don't need any of my readers to do that for me. ;) It's me and my lovely tripod having awkward photo ops. Clearly I need to convince the boy to take photos for me. I'm not sure how he'll take that though.
ReplyDeleteI love your skirt and shoes, they're both lovely. I adore the colour of your skirt!
ReplyDeleteI always feel so awkward taking outfit photos, usually I get my mother to do it, haha, or use a camera remote.
xx
I love your top
ReplyDeleteAh, you are so pretty Catherine! Seriously. You have almost an ethereal look and I'm so jealous. And I think maroon is your color. Like, it should be rightfully yours. It's gorgeous with your complexion! 83 degrees? i'm so jealous!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I sincerely love every single one of your comments. A lot. A lot. Don't be afraid to follow your passion, either! Don't not do something because you're scared. I'm not going for my "passion" yet, but after med school, I have an entire plan I'm GOING to follow:)

lovely outfit :) i love the color of that skirt :) x
ReplyDeleteThose colors do look good on you! And i'm glad you've moved past the college rejection. I figure everything happens for the best right? Did you decide on a school yet? I sent my deposit to NYU but I'm still waiting on some waitlist schools which is annoying cuz I can't do housing stuff early, etc. :P
ReplyDeleteAnywho, that Christian fellow takes nice photos! When I go East, we are meeting most definitely. I will put it in writing: When Erin Kim goes to the East Coast, whether her destination is New York, Baltimore, or a different state of her choosing, she will coordinate a shindig with Catherine E. and they will frolick in Philly or some other location together, eating good food and possibly helping Erin find cooler clothes. All in all, when these two individuals unite, the shindig will be grand.
Yes! Oh and that top is really cool, plus the necklace, well really the whole outfit. :P
I love Philadelphia! Vagabond is one of my favorite stores!
ReplyDeleteI love this red skirt and those sandals are awesome too. Love the wooden heel.
