F/W 2011: Mulberry
I can't help but describe this collection as charmingly English. Notorious for the Alexa bag, named after muse Alexa Chung, this brand also shines in its ready-to-wear clothing - literally. And the outerwear. Swoon. I love this quirky color palette applied to modernly classic pieces.

Zigzag and plaid
Sweater - Hollister, dress worn as skirt - Modcloth, jewelry - various, leggings - Forever 21, boots - Doc Martens
Trying to resist the urge to sleep. I woke up late today, though I thought I woke up early until I got out of the shower and realized it was 10am, not 9am. Oops. Stopped at the convenience store to buy my lunch and received a slew of compliments from an odd bunch of people. Including one man who told me these are "some cute-ass boots."
During school I worked on a few ceramic projects and goofed around with my friends. Pretty typical. Afterward, I was greeted with a ton of wind despite the mild temperature. And it was sunny for a little bit, but now it's hiding again and probably won't come out once more. Oh, how I wish it were May... this would only mean to anticipate a rainbow.
Seems I'll be keeping my weekend low-key. I hope to get some drawing done tonight, and maybe throw together a pie or something else. Tomorrow I'll be face painting at my elementary school - I'm kind of excited to see how much everything has changed and how small it will look!
Anything planned for the weekend?

Halfway
Cardigan - Urban Outfitters, top - Anthropologie, necklace - thrift, cuff - antique, belt - vintage, skirt - Urban Outfitters, leggings - Forever 21, boots - Dr. Martens
Didn't take many photos today, so I didn't have many options. Kind of unsatisfied with my bored/tired facial expressions, but hey, what can we do! I desperately want to cut my hair, but I'm figuring I'll wait until spring since I've realized this little bit keeps me warm. Kind of. I just never feel like putting the effort into doing my hair.
I guess my infection isn't completely gone, since I've been ridiculously tired all this week. I'm trying to find activities to keep myself occupied so I won't fall asleep on the sofa... perhaps I'll do some laundry, make food, maybe invite someone over.
I've recently been thinking about being genuine, and how I almost feel like I've been putting on a front on my blog. I'm awkward. I'm sarcastic. I run my mouth, but other times I barely speak. I'm occasionally witty, and I laugh too much. I feel like none of this can really be conveyed through written words... besides my sarcasm. But even that, I think I've skimped on it sometimes. If I'm writing for just me, I will write whatever I please, but when I write knowing that there is some sort of audience, it ends up feeling forced. I can't get hung up on how others might perceive me. I just can't - I shall not allow it.
Half way through the week, hurrah!

Early Spring
Cardigan - vintage, necklace - DIY, sweater - sister's, bracelet - gift, skirt - Target, boots - Doc Martens
Yet another beautiful day... consisted of sleeping, dancing around upon realization that it was gorgeous outside, getting ready, then going off to have a picnic with my sister. We received some odd looks from joggers while we were eating. Maybe it's because we're both rather tiny and we had a table-full of food?
I absolutely love days like these - so simple, but so, so good. I've jokingly asked friends to plan a "best day ever" for me, and today would have fit the bill perfectly if a trip to Ikea were involved and there were plants in bloom. But I won't complain!
I'm not too sure if I'll be doing anything tonight. I'm hoping something will come up!

PS Taking photos today reminds me how badly I want to plan a themed photo shoot.

Beautiful day
Top - Madewell, jewelry - antique/gift, belt - vintage, skirt - H&M, socks - Target, boots - Urbanog
It's beautiful outside today/I'm happy. We have a four day weekend, so it looks like it's off to a great start! This whole week has actually been rather favorable. I'm hoping to picnic tomorrow, since it's supposed to be even warmer. Bare legs, I've missed you! Sometimes the simple things can be oh so wonderful.
I don't have too much else planned for the weekend, though tonight I believe I'll be going to a party at a friend's house. There's 31 days until spring! Yes! And on the topic of countdowns, I have a mere 57 days left of classes. It's strange that for the first time in the past three and a half years I'm content being at school. Maybe the fact that I spent 90% of the day in the art hallway has something to do with it, but it's nice to actually look forward to a day at school. Never thought I'd say that.
What are your plans for the weekend?

F/W 2011: Rodarte
I love the designs of Kate and Laura Mulleavy, honest. But when I think of Rodarte, this isn't necessarily what I think of. Instead, images of perfectly feminine yet bad ass draping comes to mind. This collection is significantly more ladylike, but still maintains that cool factor rather than just promoting itself as yet another New Look inspired line, popularized by Mad Men (which I've never watched).
It's not what I'm accustomed to from the sisters, but sometimes, change is good.

F/W 2011: Suno
I've posted about Suno before here, but this label has been the darling of New York Fashion Week since it's presentation last Saturday. More ladylike than previous collections, the designers at Suno still prove themselves masters at mixing prints. Literally. And I'm a little amused to see yet more pattern mixing/matching with clothing and footwear... a new take on seasons-long unexpected print combinations, perhaps. Either way, I'm just as smitten as everyone else.

Never mind that this collection was shown six days ago... I'm still glorifying it in my mind. It exudes a certain 1960's outdoorsy vibe, which I'm going crazy over. Totally wearable, too. That cool-toned A-line dress in the first image? So good. And that casually-cool coat+leopard top+sweatpants ensemble? Borderline perfection.

Monday
Cardigan - vintage, necklace - DIY, dress - Asos, leggings - Forever 21, boots - Spring
I have a lot on my plate for the rest of today, but I'm feeling hopeful. Maybe it's the mild (yet windy) weather or feeling rejuvenated after the weekend, but I've been entertaining tons of ideas in my mind. Receiving numerous comments on my necklace reminded me that I mentioned making/selling similar necklaces, but obviously never got around to it. After tons and tons of job applications, I'm still unemployed and trying to find some extra money.
I would write more, but I have to run.
Happy Valentine's day!

Saturday night rambling with that Silhouette Girl
People tend to doubt my eating capabilities until they actually sit down and consume food with me. I indulged in several delectable treats today - brunched at the White Dog Cafe for my friend's birthday (I ordered orange ginger tofu, he ordered a smoked ham sandwich and declared it the best sandwich he's ever had) and baked yet another apple pie. And now I'm thinking about how good vegetables and curry would be right now.
...also, I made a vlog. V-log? Vlog? Now instead of reading my rambling, you can listen to it! I like to believe on the awkward spectrum, I lie away from painful and closer to endearing. I'm not sure that's the case.

Friday
Shirt - Forever 21, cuff - antique, skirt - Urban Outfitters, leggings - Forever 21, boots - Deena and Ozzy
Finally, an outfit post! It's been way too long since my last. I'm feeling 92% of my usual self at this point. So I dressed up and went outside to take photos. Hurrah. That's what most people do when they recover from being sick, no?
Anyway, as I walked into school, my brother told me I look like a farmer. Thanks, I guess... I suppose this is a titch more reminiscent of something a farmer would wear than most of my outfits, but still. I get a kick out of comments from my family/friends.
So now I'm eating couscous and trying to put off a nap. I can't wait until I feel completely better again. Spring is in 37 days. Hurrah.

F/W 2011: Organic by John Patrick
All images via style.com
As always, the last thing I want to be thinking about mid-February is more fall/winter clothing, but I feel there's usually a titch of spring in many collections. Exhibit A: (bottom left image) the perfect floral shirt dress I've never managed to find. You can bet I'd wear this all spring and summer if I could. As far as the rest goes, I'm amused with the color palette. And the silhouettes. Nothing too groundbreaking, but I'm a sucker for simplicity.

F/W 2011: Rachel Comey
All images via style.com
I find myself consistently smitten with Rachel Comey's simple, wearable designs. As always, I'm particularly drawn to the footwear. Matching prints on shoes and pants? Why not? And those gold boots? It's safe to say I now want a pair of gilded boots.
Mixed prints? Check. Non-gaudy velvet? Check. Comfy knits? Check. Winning silhouettes? Check.

PS Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I'm feeling much better, just exhausted. Incidentally, Sunday was my two-year blog anniversary and I did nothing to celebrate. My voice is back and I have a new netbook equipped with a webcam, so I'm planning on putting together a video post! Ask me questions at Formspring!

Inside the Box
via Desiretoinspire.net
These spaces are so nice, and I'd be delighted to encounter any of them. My house lacks sufficient natural lighting, so incidentally, any time I find myself lusting over interiors, there's an abundance.
This is day six of my illness, and I'm experiencing crazy cabin fever. Surprisingly enough, I'm hoping I'll be well enough to return to school mid-week, even if it is just to leave my house. It's been nearly a week since I've had a decent spoken conversation... so frustrating.
Time will tell.
