More gloom.

Cardigan - Forever 21, tshirt - H&M, shorts - American Eagle DIY, shoes - Blowfish from random online shoe store.

You know, my hair was perfect when I left my house this morning. Unfortunately it was ruined by the still-gloomy weather. Funnily enough, it's sunny now that I've come inside from taking pictures. I realized I've never worn these shoes on here... I received them as a gift last year and I've worn them enough for them to go from being painfully tight to very loose. Uncomfy for walking up and down steps, otherwise, very comfy!

On another note, school is almost out so I may consider something I've been half-considering as a joke for ages, but the idea is growing on me... going blonde? I've been told I could pull it off, but I've also been told it would look awful. Maybe if I feel like having fun with bleach and wrecking my hair I'll just go for it, cry when it turns out looking gross, then go back to some unnatural shade of brown.

I'm having a bit of a dilema. I went to a thrift store yesterday (not Goodwill or any major chain) and I bought three belts. One feels like it's basically plastic, but it satisfies my need for a brown belt. The other two are real leather. I don't know why I bought them, but I'm having such a fight about this in my head.

While I was browsing, another customer pointed this out to me and said it was from Kenya (she said she could tell because she's from there), which frankly, made it ten times more interesting than any article of clothing I've ever considered purchasing. I thought of about fifty ways I'd love to wear it... but it's undoubtedly real leather although there are no tags or labels.

This caught my eye. I mean, it's rather bright compared to what else was in the basket I was searching through. It has a label printed on and it says "genuine calfskin." Noooo. By any chance, is anyone interested in buying this? It seems to be in good condition (though the previous owner evidently tried to make an extra hole in the band...), the brand is Cipriani and it's a size large, and can fit from about 28" to 33". Any takers? Doubt it, but email me if you're interested! It'll be very cheap, no more than a couple of dollars (plus shipping, sorry!).

Cardigan - (the one I wear every day...) Forever 21, gray tank - Target, navy tank - Old Navy, jeans - Delia's, sandals - (sigh) Target.

It's gloomy, thus indoor pictures. I didn't want to risk having my camera out in any amount of rain then having to undo my tripod and run inside. Today was honestly a crappy day. But luckily I doubt it'll be particularly memorable. I forgot basically everything important at home. At least these jeans aren't as tight as they were the last time I wore them, good or bad thing. I have no idea why I've lost weight but it's kind of scaring me. Most people wouldn't be worried, but I'm not even trying... Ah, well yeah.

I resurrected the handbag I used every single day from March '08 up until last Christmas. And I meant to show it in my pictures, but I clearly forgot. Oh well.

And I think the new enforcement on no iPods on my school has something to do with my unhappiness... not that I listened to it all day, but at least one or two periods got me through the day. I sound whiney, I apologize.

Hope the weather's nicer where you are, and hope you're having a great day. xox Catherine

I'm Dreaming...

To be honest, I'm really closed off when it comes to my drawings that I don't work on in the open, to the point where if someone tries to look in my sketchbooks, I'll run and grab them. But I decided to "design" some things, mostly dresses, today while sitting in my room with nothing else to do (besides a math take home test, but I don't really feel like doing that). I ended up not going to Goodwill, but I may try to go on Wednesday... we'll see.

Well, back to that, please no harsh criticism! There's so many tweaks I'd make, but once I got out my paints, there was no turning back. And yes, I'm too lazy to draw actual bodies. Cool.

And something else I did out of boredom:

Yes, my scanner sucks. And I suppose I'm a little rusty at writing stuff since I haven't been doodling much this weekend...

Happy Memorial Day! Truthfully, I have no idea why this holiday is celebrated (I'm fabulous, right?), but have a good one regardless. It's almost summer, YESSS!

PS I have bug bites all over. Does anyone know any good methods to get them to not itch?

Just getting it out there:

I really want to try to batik or dye using some other resist technique. I want patterns in my life, but I'm ultra picky with them, so I suppose I could trust myself...

I may try to beg someone to take me to a Goodwill store sometime tomorrow. Everything's half off, and I'm sure I could find money somewhere (I have $2 in my wallet, I need a job!!).

Oh, and I went on a slight adventure today. Spontaneously went to a barbeque somewhere, then walked to a technically off-limits overgrown field. I must go back there and take photos. Truthfully, I would have enjoyed myself much more if I was comfortable - comfy shoes and not wishing I brought my camera (I'm still very afraid of taking it anywhere), but still, I got out so I am quite content.

Happy Memorial day to all! I think I should get some sleep, this is the second night I've stayed up pretty late... I absolutely cannot wait for summer. xox Catherine

But before I leave, Anne Vyalitsyna in the editorial "Here Comes the Sun" in the summer issue of H&M magazine:

Cardigan - Lux from Plato's Closet, dress - Billabong, belt - Target, shoes - Kohl's.

Today has been quite wonderful. I think that dressing up may have something to do with it... Yeah, I dressed up just for the hell of it. I'm comfy, what difference does it make if I'm wearing a dress? It's a bit wrinkled, but I kind of threw all of this on. Notice without the sunglasses there's no black. Don't get me wrong, I love black, but I decided to throw on random colors and tada. I think I'd prefer this dress with a turquoise belt and brown sandals, but I have neither, so what can we do? Oh, and I bought some new nude lipstick for $2 at Urban. I love cheap stuff.

Again... have a fabulous day! xox Catherine

I Want 5/22/09

1. Sunglasses - Forever 21, $6; 2. Dress - Forever 21, $20; 3. Fedora - Forever 21, $13; 4. Sunscreen - Nature's Gate, $8; 5. Belt - Forever 21, $8; 6. Sandals - Urban Outfitters, $60; 7. Handbag - Urban Outfitters, $70

Summer essentials. After much frustration producing this (Photobucket wasn't working, Polyvore won't upload Photobucket images anyway, etc.), here is my wishlist I've been dreaming about. Notice there's only a titch of black, and it's on the hat. I have never purchased a hat, but I'm going to try to protect my hair this summer, as well as my skin with cruelty free sunscreen. I always lust over the many bags at Urban, but this one is particularly appealing. Not to mention the sandals I thought I would want to cry about because they'd surely be leather are actually polyurethane (bad for the environment, but I can't bring myself to buy any new leather items).

All of this is a little different for me, but this summer I'm going to try to change things up. I want to set aside a specific time to run everyday although I literally cannot run, and I want to get dressed almost everyday rather than sitting in shorts and a tank top.

I'm convinced today is Saturday, but it's only Friday! So to all - have a fantastic weekend. I'm going to try to post again throughout the weekend, but it's the unofficial start of the summer season, so why not make it extra special?

Accept your life and what it brings.

Tshirt - Forever 21, shorts - old from Pacsun, belt - old from Hot Topic, sneakers - Converse, jewelry - mom's and fleamarket, sunglasses - Forever 21.

Yeah, simple. But unbelievably comfy. I really love the color of this $4.50 tshirt and I have a feeling I'll try to wear it nearly every day during summer (speaking of summer, only 30ish days to go [including weekends] depending on which finals I'm exempt from!). I'm off for the long four day weekend, so even though I'm currently being pressured to "get off the computer!" I'll probably write later. Expect a wish list? Yesss.

PS My past two titles have been from the song "Better Things" by the Bouncing Souls. Such an upbeat song!

Be an optimist instead, and somehow happiness will find you.

Cardigan - Forever 21, tshirt - Forever 21, skirt - Retrospect, shoes - Target, jewelry - mom/fleamarket.

Yeah, I've had this skirt for almost a year. It was kind of long at first and I wanted to make it into a tube dress, but the elastic was too tight and I didn't get any, so I ended up cutting/hemming it to produce this. I'm still not wearing much color, but look, prints!

Oh, and meet Sadie, my dog. Normally she runs around when she sees my camera, but I guess she felt alright with it today.

My day was pretty good. I got out early to do this study to taste stuff, and I'll be getting paid which means I'll probably blow it all once I get my check on either concert tickets and/or unnecessary clothing items. Expect a wishlist tomorrow or so. And I went out to eat with my mom, which I enjoyed because it's really difficult for me to find many restaurants that serve vegan food! Just one more day of school this week!

Have a great day, hope you're all doing well. xox Catherine

Sweater - unknown/secondhand, jeans - Delia's, shoes - Kohl's, bracelet - mom's.

By unknown/secondhand, I mean three boxes of clothes showed up at my house courtesy of my aunt's friend's daughter. I sifted through them and found a few cool pieces, and some stuff to experiment on because I'm too much of a wimp to "wreck" my own clothes...

A little DIY that may or may not be finished:

Excuse my faces, please. But I have made a new friend named bleach. I may use this as a base and tie dye it from here, but I'm not sure.

A little bit about my day... pretty boring, except for when my shoe broke. Luckily I don't cherish these shoes that much, and luckily I was able to use a hot glue gun during art which I have first period, but I kind of want new white sandals now.

Oh, and a photo of me and two of my best friends from earlier:

I realize this post is very picture heavy, but I love this picture so much.

Have a great day, all! xox Catherine

Now and then.

Cardigan - Forever 21, tank top - I Heart Ronson (JC Penney), jeans - Delia's, shoes - Target, sunglasses - Forever 21.

Ahh, I'm back! My past few days have consisted of ups, downs, going out, staying in, a little bit of DIY (I'll show you later!), and all that fun stuff. Here's a few pictures:

My sister and I before the art show at my school.

I redid the wall parallel to my bed in hopes that I'd be inspired on a daily basis.

And I got a hair cut!

So, about my clothes for once! I'm pretty much addicted to these shoes. I was almost not going to wear them, but of course I did. The shirt is new and probably the only thing I've ever purchased at JC Penney. To be honest, I kind of hate that store, but some of the I Heart Ronson stuff was pretty cute. Also bought a new nose ring but it's currently in backwards because apparently my nose is sensative to cheap metals and I couldn't get it in the other way.

About my life as of late: my whole family receieved some good news today. I. Am. So. Relieved. I've been pretty bored, turns out my cold/whatever was allergies after all, and that thing I mentioned in one of my most recent posts? I did it. But it's like I didn't. I thought I'd feel more accomplished, but it was kind of for me more than anyone else anyway.

Have a fabulous day, xox Catherineeee.

I can promise,

I will be back. Soon. I'm just trying to let myself absorb life. I hate taking this break because I love writing, but I'm figuring some stuff out.

Dead men don't tell tales.

Cardigan - H&M, tshirt - sister's (it says the Briggs), jeans - Delia's, sandals - Target.

I'm still sick, hence why I decided to pick out something to wear before I went to bed for once, and it's a tshirt and my comfiest jeans. Go figure. I'm mainly trying to procrastinate doing any work of any sort right now, but I'm half pretending to do it, so I'm not really back.

Today could've been much worse for being sick at school, but I'm still not putting all my effort into my work. I'm really slacking, I have a 55 in gym. Not that it counts, but all I'd have to do is get changed and stand there for an hour to get credit.

I'm basically determined to finally do something I've been wanting to do for about a year. I'm so childish and naive, but I'll have fun with it while I'm still this young. It's not even that big a deal, I'm just blowing it out of proportion. But it's getting to the point where if I want to do it, I have to when I have the chance because I may not have any more opportunities. Sorry about this, my mind is just clearly on that topic and I can't shake it.

Hope you're having a great day (and nice weather!), xox Catherine.

Monday, May 11, 2009

I haven't posted in so long. But surprisingly, I've been busy some days. The weather was crap some days which ruined my hair and thus no pictures (haha), and I've been plain uninspired, and now I'm either sick again or my seasonal allergies that I rarely get are really bad.

I promise, I'll be back soon with hopefully better content than before.

xox, Catherine.

Met Costume Institute Gala - Part 2

Kate Moss and Marc Jacobs - Marc Jacobs
Of course. But of course, nice.

Katy Perry - Tommy Hilfgier
Maybe it's just this photo, but she looks really glamorous.

Liv Tyler, Kate Hudson and Stella McCartney - Stella McCartney
Love all of it.

Lou Doillon - Nina Ricci
Red+ruffles = awesome.

John Galliano and Marion Cotillard - Christian Dior
I love this dress.

Rachel Bilson - Bally
Could've been better in my opinion, but I'll always love her! Maybe it's her hair...

Rose Byrne - Marc Jacobs
Gorgeous color.

Sophie Buhail and Lisa Mayock - Vena Cava (their own)
I can't think of anything interesting to say, but I love this.

Victoria Beckham - Marc Jacobs
Not too sure about the shoes, but she always appears fearless. Props to her.

all from

Met Costume Institute Gala - Part 1

Anja Rubik - Balmain
Still loving Balmain.

Anna Jagodzinska - Altuzarra
I think the shoes are a bit odd, but she looks fabulous otherwise although I can't pronounce her name.

Ashley Olsen - the Row
Pleeease look at this from the back, this doesn't do it justice. It's stunning.

Catherine McNeil - Roland Mouret
Those shoes.

Daria Werbowy - Balmain
Weird shoe choice, but otherwise gorgeous.

Diane Kruger - Chanel Haute Couture

Erin Wasson and Lady Amanda Harlech - Phi and Chanel Haute Couture
Pretty awesome.

Flavia Deoliveira and Chanel Iman - Juan Carlos Bando and Zac Posen
Both verrry outstanding.

Gisele Bundchen - Versace
Usually I'm not a fan of anything too shiny, but I love blue.

And one questionable...

I don't know who they are or what they're wearing, but I've seen prom dresses better than these. Come on.

Rain, rain, go away.

Cardigan - Forever 21, tshirt - American Apparel, jeans - Delia's, shoes - Target.

I really wasn't planning on posting anything today, but I guess I'm reverting back to my old go-to uniform... with the addition of my new shoes. Yeah, I bought them. No one else seems to love them as much as I do, but hey, they're my shoes, so what do I care?

And I feel like it may be my new camera (well, not so new anymore, especially considering I lost the lens cap which I told myself wouldn't happen until I've had it for a while), but I think I look much skinnier lately. Maybe I just haven't been eating as much. I have a serious food addiction though, so if it is real, I'm not expecting it to last.

And in other news, tonight is the big Met Costume Institute Gala for the opening night of the Model As A Muse exhibit... expect some light coverage tomorrow. As much as I hate how celebrities are put on such a high pedestal, I'm very excited to see what a few will be wearing, particularly Rachel Bilson. Speaking of her, she has a new column giving style tips in Instyle, and after hearing that I want to make a quick run to any nearby retailer.
